Metrology Labs

Our latest initiative is in optical metrology. Professors Brian Washburn and Kristan Corwin are establishing new labs in the old "square room" target area. Brian's lab is just getting under construction, while Kristan's LUMOS lab is now a going concern. The photos below show the new construction and a look at the current state of LUMOS as of September 2005. You can follow the construction on Brian's lab blog.

Each thumbnail below links to a much larger image about 225 kB in size.

Brian Washburn's new lab (and access to the MOT) is currently shrouded in plastic.

Inside the plastic barrier, the MOT's data acquisition computer is swathed in yet more plastic, and temporary ceiling supports are evident.

Lots of supplies and tools dominate the room.
