From the fall of 2011 through the end of spring 2012, the James R. Macdonald Lab has been remodeling. Our various laser-atom studies have displaced some of our old particle accelerators, and have grown beyond the space we originally allotted for them.
January 2012 saw the first work on the Prairie Ultrafast Laser System for Attosecond Research (PULSAR) area. Air-conditioning plumbing and electical power lines were the first additions. The latter required jackhammering a new trench to connect the new power panels to the old trenches.
