[3599] Jonathan inherited the homestead of his father and his grandfather in Nissequogue, Smithtown, Suffolk County, Long Island, NY,
and it remained in the possession of his Floyd descendants until recent years.

The will of Jonathan Smith of Smithtown is dated 10 October 1743, proved 29 November 1744; it is in his own handwriting. He mentions
his recently deceased son Platt Smith, and leaves all property to his two daughters: Tabitha, wife of Nicoll Floyd; and Ruth, wife of
Henry Smith. Much of his real estate had previously been deeded to his son Platt Smith.

The following note is affixed, obviously the work of William Pelletreau:
"Note - Jonathan Smith was grand son of Richard Smith, the Patentee of Smithtown. The original
will, written with his own hand, is in possession of Mrs. William H. Wickham, of New York,
who is his descendant. His daughter Tabitha married Nicoll Floyd, and was the mother of
General William Floyd, Signer of the Declaration of Independence. His daughter Ruth married
Henry Smith, Jr., of the "Tangier Smith" family. His son, Platt Smith, died August 6, 1743. - W. S. P."
