"Dorothy Woodhull, 3rd generation, born -------, was the eldest daughter and fifth, child of the Hon.
Richard Wodhull (II.), and Temperance Fordham. She married William Helme, son of Thomas Helme
(who was a resident of Brookhaven, Long Island, from 1675 to 1703)...Thomas Helme, was one of the
Patentees of Brookhaven, Long Island, in 1689, and with Richard Wodhull (I.), was commissioned to
lay out Little Neck in 1687. The name of William Helme is on the Rolls of Brookhaven Company, "in ye
Suffolk Regiment, Anno. Dom. 1715, of Henry Smith's Company." John and Nathaniel Wodhull, brothers
of his wife Dorothy, were in the same Company."
