"Regarding the father of Phebe Wood who married Epenetus Platt: Owing to a
difference of opinion as to the formerly accepted ancestry of Jonas Wood,
who died in 1689, the compiler has decided not to publish anything about
him here excepting what follows, which proves he was the father of Phebe
(Wood) Platt...Jonas Wood died in Huntington, June 12, 1689. He made his
will there February 20, 1688, which was not probated until April 15, 1692. (Early Long
Island Wills, p. 60.) His wife is not named, probably predeceasing its making. He
mentions his son Jonas, leaving him "all my chirurgeon's instruments and
concernments of that kind as salves, paper for directions, etc.;" also land next to
my son Epenetus Platt, and gives son Isaac Platt certain land "which was my father's
in Josias's Neck," and names his daughters Elizabeth and Phebe."
