"Jacob Young was born in New Jersey in 1753. During the Revolution, he was loyal to
the British Crown, and served as a spy. Unfortunately, he was caught and put in prison
for seven months. He would have been executed but for the intervention of Col. Flummerfelt
who was a close friend of the Young family. Later, Jacob married Frances, Col. Flummerfelt's
daughter, and the couple came to Canada about 1790...While all of their eight children were
born at Grimsby, they lived their later lives in Halton County."
