"John, bapt., at Headcorn, 22 Feb. 1606/7. He inherited his father's land in
Smarden, co. Kent. Probably he was the John Borden who m. at Headcorn,
21 Apr. 1629, Elizabeth Clagget, who must have d. soon afterwards, as he
appears in 1635 on the shipping list of the Elizabeth & Ann, bound for New
England, aged 28 years, with a wife Joan, aged 23 years, a son Matthew,
aged 8 years, and a daughter Elizabeth aged 3 years. Nothing is known
of him in New England."
