"Elder John Stronge was a Tanner. He was born about 1610, in Chard, Somerset, England. He
died April 14, 1699, in Northampton, Massachusetts. He married before 1634, for his 1st
wife, Margery Deane, daughter of William Deane. She died about 1635. He married about
1635, for his 2nd wife, Abigail Ford, daughter of Thomas Ford and Elizabeth Chard Cooke.
Abigail was baptized Oct. 8, 1619, in Bridport, Dorset, England. She died July 16, 1688,
in Northampton, Massachusetts. They are buried in the Bridge Street Cemetery, Northampton,
Massachusetts."

Northampton, MA, where he is buried. He m. (1) about 1632 in England, Margery Deane, dau.
of William Deane. She died with an infant about 1635. He m. (2) Abigail Ford, 1635 in
Dorchester, MA, dau. of Thomas and Elizabeth (Charde) Ford, bpt. 8 Oct. 1619 at Bridport,
Dorset, England. D. 16 Jul. 1688 in Northampton, MA. It is possible he came first in 1630
on the "Mary & John". He returned soon after to marry Margery Deane and they came in 1635
on the "Hopewell" with a son and small child. His wife and child died soon after landing.
He then went to Dorchester, MA to marry Abigail Ford whom he had met during the 1630
crossing."
