From the fall of 2011 through the end of spring 2012, the James R. Macdonald Lab has been remodeling. Our various laser-atom studies have displaced some of our old particle accelerators, and have grown beyond the space we originally allotted for them.
By Friday, 20 July, the PULSAR laser system was mostly assembled and began testing. The pumps, oscillators, compressors and other sundry components filled the optics tables, while controllers and cryocoolers stood nearby or filled the adjacent closet.
